looking for SVG Viewer/Organizer combo
I have Purchased a 500GB hard drive to save all of my SVG files. Does anyone know of a Viewer/Organizer combo. Trying to find a file is so frustrating….

Re: looking for SVG Viewer/Organizer combo
Heather,
sometime ago someone asked the same. I couldn't find the thread so here is it in my own words.
open an svg, click on edit, then click on select all (that selects all the pieces in the file).
click edit again and this time click on "make a bitmap copy." this creates a picture of the file content. it should appear in the same place where the svg file is.
further organizaiton can be done by making folders and classifying files according their category.

Re: looking for SVG Viewer/Organizer combo
I make my images as detailed in the post above. Initially that is all I did - but then I would forget where I got things from. So, I started making folders - in this folder, I store everything related to the cut file - images, svg, scut, tou, etc. And, when naming the folder, I include identifying information about the file creator. I have my folders set up to display thumbnails so it is easy to see at a glance what I have. I had these broke down by category I would forget where I cataloged something at so right now, they are all back in one big folder. I'm thinking of setting up an A-Z system instead of the categories.
Here's a screenshot of the contents of one of my folders.

I hve started doing similar as scrpbooklady.
Now that SCAL2 takes layers I am slowly putting all my layers of a project onto one scut file and have one svg file and then do a jpg of it and then I get the thumnail image as shown above.
Then put them into some categories - animals, word books, children, flowers, birds etc.
It is taking a bit of work to tidy it all up but makes everything a lot easier to find now.

I don't know if this is exactly what you want but Inkscape .47 automatically shows the image as you mouse over. So it is a "file viewer" and that helps me alot.
I have all my files by category so I pretty much know where "animals" are, in the animals folder but I often don't name them properly so mousing down the files I can see the image in a window.
I have a Mac so if I have it PC's have it.
