I'm still playing with the trial version. I downloaded a couple of SVG files to play with to see how this all works. I've noticed that if there are several pieces, then they are in one big group. I've tried to Ungroup, but nothing happens. Here is an example of a file that I'm asking about...

There are 8 cute clips, but what do I do if I'd only like to cut just one of the shapes?
Thanks

Re: Question on using a SVG file
You can open them in Inkscape and pull them apart and arrange them on the matt the way you want to cut them. If you don't have Inkscape there is a free download out there that will do the trick.

I know it can't be done in the old SCAL, doesn't have an option. Haven't got the new one yet so can't tell you about the Upgrade 2.?. Might ask Dann99, he has the new SCAL

What's New:
- New ways to maniuplate ond organize objects including Select All, Group and Ungrouping
- Add multiple pages
- Use layers to organize objects within a page
- Modify text more easily
- Auto tracing feature to automatically convert images
- Show rulers using inches or centimeters
I haven't played with it that much, but if you can ungroup, then you should be able to cut and paste.

Re: Question on using a SVG file
The new version will not separate individual pieces of a file. You will have to use Inkscape. It really isn't that hard.

Re: Question on using a SVG file
I just installed the trial version here and Heather is correct. It won't separate SVG files. Only objects that were drawn in SCAL. That's a bummer! That would have been a really good option.

Hi Todd
Are you saying the new SCAL will seperate, or ungroup or break apart and then you can move the pieces around on the mat? If it does this then I'm sold

Re: Question on using a SVG file
No it won't.
What you saved in Ink is what you have in SCAL. A new feature is that if you have something in your file that isn't converted to path it tells you when you import the file.
