Where is the best place for a newbie to go to get basic instructions. I have my word ready to cut on my mat I just need to know how to do shadowing and I am sure I will have a lot more questions. I know there are videos on youtube but couldn't find one for that. I tried doing a search on this blog and it said my question was too vague.
Thanks

To shadow, all you have to do it make sure the word is highlighted (red box around it) and in the PROPERTIES box click on the drop down where it says normal and choose shadow. You can change the size of the shadow by changing the number beside it. (With some fonts, some of the letters will disappear depending on the size of the shadow you are using.)
Hope this helps!
This is an awesome place to get information. Just ask away or click on the TUTORIALS on the categories board on the home page.

Re: Where's a newbie to go?
Hi,
I'm a newbie too and there are alot of places (lots of personal blogs and websites found here on the fourm) that you can go to read up on and watch videos on the SCAL program and all the different things that you can do with this program and your cricut machine. I have found myself spending hours with a hot pot of coffee and my laptop just combing over and over all the different posts, and ideas and projects that people on here have done. I have been known to put off the dishes
and feeding the dogs late
just because I have been so caught up in here!
One website that comes to mind is www.scrappingtable.com. There are some very helpful videos and tips there. There is also www.dan99.blogspot.com. That is a really good site too. I had to get a notebook to write everything down in because I found myself on one website and would click onto someone else's website or blog and would lose track of where I was
or I would click out of the website and end up clicking out of them all
Now if I come across a website/blog that has something interesting on it that I might want to save or go back to, I save it into my favorites file and/or write it in the notebook before I go any further! If you get stuck on something, post the problem to the boards and without a doubt, there will be someone there to answer your question. This is a great place to learn! Enjoy!

Did you know there is a manual to the program under Help when you area in SCAL? It'll let you print out a pdf file or read on screen.
Also, I maintain a tagged index of video tutorials to make it easier to find what you need. Over 280 videos, not just youtube

I used it to find this video which shows what you are looking for

I learned most everything from the help tab on the SCAL program.
