Whimsical firefly

Post by Texasyl »

I put this on the "wishlist" heading but I think this is where it should be. I need a whimsical firefly, lightning bug. I made one in Inkscape but it's not really whimsical and all the files I find online are too complicated for my limited Inkscape skills. I really need this ASAP as I work at Joann and need these for our "Firefly Frenzy" sale this week. I think it would be great if the employees could wear a firefly. :D
Thanks.

I've been working on this one - but it would involve a lot of piecing.

Thanks Todd and Lora. Todd, yours is a bit detailed, perhaps if I put it over a solid backing? I'll see what I can do. Lora, yours is more like I had in mind but one that I know I could not do in a short time. I thought perhaps I might leave off the legs and replace the red part with just a "bright yellow or green" circle. Wiggle eyes maybe.

I appreciate anything you can come up with. These guys are cute. The guys at work would like Todd's and the girls would probably prefer Lora's. :D

Here is a simplified version of the dragonfly - the legs are cut out of the top pieces so that you don't have to glue. I have included eyes - but I think some of the wiggly eyes would be really cute! (the second picture shows you what the cut pieces look like - there are two white pieces for the eyes as well but they are not showing up - I had them colored a pale gray so that could be the problem.)

Thank you Lora, this is great. Kinda reminds me of the Cootie bugs on the Cootie game. :D

I've created the more detailed version and added a couple of title options - it's available for free on my blog!

Thanks for looking!
