What fun and so easy to do only in SCAL. I'm not posting the file because I don't want to spoil your fun in DIY!

Leslie, you are so generous with your praise.

I did this in SCAL with WELD. A row of the font overlapped and welded and a rectangle for a straight bottom.

Since you are learning Inkscape very quickly you can practice doing the border in Inkscape.

I look forward to seeing what you do.
