Monogram help
Monogram help
Hi! I would like to cut monograms using inkscape and my Cricut, but I dont know if I can create a rounded 3 initial monogram (without any outside circle showing) or three initials in a "sideways" diamond shape. Any help/advice is appreciated!

Re: Monogram help
I was able to get a rough diamond, but there must be a better way. I used the sculpting nodes tool. Here is a link to the manual. http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... iting.html
I'm still working on how to do this better.

Ok, here is another try. This time I used the effects menu/modify path/envelope on one letter at a time. If you like this I can try to tell you how I did it.

Re: Monogram help
Here is a rounded one using photosho. You type your leters, rasterize text, then warp it.
If you will be doing a lot of monograms you might take a look at this (it's $20) http://www.haroldsfonts.com/frontpage.html

Re: Monogram help
I think you might be able to do this easier and better (my attempts are pretty rough) in Adobe Illustrator using the Envelope distort, but I don't have it. Anyone out there with Illustrator want to give it a try? Here is a section from the AI manual.
"To use an object as the shape of the envelope, make sure the object is at the top of the stacking order for the selected object. If it’s not, use the Layers panel or an Arrange command to move it up, and reselect all the objects. Then choose Object > Envelope Distort > Make With Top Object."
