Hi everyone! I have a couple questions,
1 - I have an image of 4 colors that need to be cut. It is an ESP file, and i cant seem to open this file.. anyone know of an easy way to import this file and/or know of an easier idea ( maybe change format without loosing the quality) i have been using inkscape but also have access to Photoshop
2 - once i have said image into inkscape, how do i set it up to be exported into SCALPro? Ive tried trace to bitmap, but it says i dont have the image selected... so i thought to break up the image into layers then export that into inkscape... but i dont know how to do that and still keep the layers for later cutting. Same as above, anyone know how to do this, or know of an easier way? This image is for vinyl cutting
3 - Is there a tutorial on the rhinestone features? i knwo how to fill an image, but can you change sizes without having to change each indiviual one ( meaning i am lookingfor multiple sizes)?
I use SCALPro and use an SC Cutter
Thanks for any imput you may have!
Lacey
Learning and needing a bit of guidance
Re: Learning and needing a bit of guidance
Here is a video tutorial for Rhinestones. She is using eCraft but the design creation is the same for all machines.

Re: Learning and needing a bit of guidance
I have had pretty good luck with EPS files using PhotoShop Elements. I open in PE and save as .png.1 - I have an image of 4 colors that need to be cut. It is an ESP file, and i cant seem to open this file.. anyone know of an easy way to import this file and/or know of an easier idea ( maybe change format without loosing the quality) i have been using inkscape but also have access to Photoshop
Then I can go to my eCAL and import it using auto trace image. RESULTS MAY VARY as they say.
I don't know how to get an EPS image into Inkscape, but the png would work and then trace there and save as .svg and use the import svg function to bring it into SCAL. RESULTS MAY VARY here too as it all depends on the complexity of the file.
Please come on back and let us know what worked and what didn't.

Re: Learning and needing a bit of guidance
There is an online converter that will convert the EPS to PDF which can be opened in either SCAL or Inkscape. If the file is vector then there is no need to trace it.

Re: Learning and needing a bit of guidance
I have a mac running snow leopard and inkscape imports the EPS file.
I just go to file>open
select my EPS file
I then get the import box (so I could use file>import)
I set to fine (131.1) for the quality and hit OK
after a few minutes/seconds - depends on the system - I get the file.

Awesome! I got it in! Thansk everyone.
So my image has 4 colors ( red, orange, blue, black) And i broke them up into layers in SCAL.
When i go to do my cut, the first layer i started with was balck, and the second layer Red, part os the design was off< since this is in layer and together they are all in the right spot, How do i trouble shoot this?

can you post the svg file? So we can see where your problem may be?

Re: Learning and needing a bit of guidance
not sure what you mean by off but if you can post the file and maybe a pic of what is coming out the cutter we might be able to say when could fix it.

Re: Learning and needing a bit of guidance
My layer images, are made, and the part that is the issue is the blocks you make at the top to line everything up when actually layering the vinyl once cut.
The squares at the top are side by side, but when i cut them, they've moved and then that wont help with my being able to line them up to make for sure each color image goes on straight. I will post a pic tonight, if i still dont make sense!
