Hi,
Can anyone tell me if they have purchased a Sizzix Big Kick for embossing? If so, do you like it? I was considering getting one and i dont want to waste time or money if anybody thinks it's not great. I got a gift card for AC Moore and i think i can use a 50% coupon on that brand, so i could save money. Let me know, thanks. Jennifer

Re: Sizzix Big kick
I just got the Sizzix Big Shot. It was recommended higher than the Big Kick. You can use all the Sizzix embossing folders plus other brands with the Big Shot but not the Big Kick.
Re: Sizzix Big kick
Great! Thanks so much. I started reviewing the difference but I was so tired of staring at the screen, this helped me especially because it uses other brands of die cuts. Thanks, Jen

I believe that I read on the Sizzix facebook that those two machines are pretty much exactly the same. The only difference is the color. Can't remember the reasoning, but if you check their FB you'll find the answer.
Re: Sizzix Big kick
Here is the review that sold me Jennifer.
Ok here's the thing: it's a very versatile machine and you can really learn quite a bit on how to use it, if you go on YouTube. There's a lady named Pat who can teach you tons of neat tricks for the BIG SHOT. But...this is the big KICK. Read on and I'll explain why you need to know the difference.
Lots of information out there, virtually all of it says that BIG KICK and BIG SHOT are the same machine just different color...NOT TRUE! The BIG KICK IS A TINY BIT SMALLER. With the Big Shot being about 1/2" or so bigger, this means that you CANNOT USE 6 inch DIES WITH THIS MACHINE. They want to fit, but just simply don't, just a hair short of fitting actually. And let me tell you, if you want to use this for applique work or sewing, you will want those 6 inch dies because there are plenty of cute ones at that size.
My advice to anyone wanting to buy this would be if you want to be able to use 6" dies, please do yourself a favor and get the Big Shot instead. Thanks to Pat on YouTube, I know you can also use AcuQuilt dies with these machines! There are little tricks such as the multi-purpose platform and using priority mail envelops as a shim so they will fit also. Oh and BTW, you can ALSO use Spellbinders metal dies, with which you can also cut fabric, or paper or whatever. I can't say enough about going on YouTube for this information on what to do with a sizzix machine. You will be amazed!
You can even press bottlecaps or make your own metal embossed ceiling/wall tiles with this thing. My only complaint at all, is that all the larger dies won't work with it. But the Big Shot model takes all the sizes, plus dies from other companies! How awesome is that?
I have used mine to cut fabric and felt and I like it. But just iron on some "heat and bond lite" before you run it through, this way when you are ready you can peel the paper off the back of your shape, iron it onto your project then stitch the edges or finish off however you'd like.
So I'm off to get a Big Shot and I will be selling this one...probably here on Amazon!

Re: Sizzix Big kick
That review could be wrong because I have yet to find a die that wouldn't work in my big kick. When I got mine, Sizzix website said the machines were the same size. So maybe the new ones are smaller now then when I got mine years ago. I purchased new cutting pads not long ago and they were labeled Big Shot/Big Kick.

I have a friend who has the Big Shot and would rather have the Cuttlebug which can cut and emboss. I have a Cuttlebug and love it. You can get Darice embossing folders for $2.97 from Consumer Crafts which is much cheaper than Provo Craft embossing folders. They work great too.
Re: Sizzix Big kick
have you consider the Fuse from Sixxiz? does some sort of letter press as well as taking all kinds of die cuts and embossing folders, plus has a 11 inches cutting area (Grandcalibur is 8.5 or 9 x 12 - based on the plates)
SCAL 2 (cricut), SCAL 3 (Black Cat 15"), Windows 10
