I am just about to buy the full license for SCAL and am very excited about it. I have the Cricut Expression and was wondering if any of you experienced users out there have any tips to make my first usage go smoothly. Thanks so much

Welcome! You will love SCAL! Make sure you have a cartridge in the machine when you use it with SCAL. I suggest that you put the machine pressure on high, and put the blade on high as well. You can always experiment to see what works best with your papers. The speed in the SCAL software overrides the speed dial on the machine. I like mine at medium speed if the design I'm cutting has any integrate cuts to it. My paper has a tendency to rip at higher speeds. Again, experiment with your paper and see what seems to work for you. There are so many files in the SVG section of this forum. Download a few that you like and cut them to experiment with them.

You might want to download Inkscape to modify or separate graphic files you find that you want to cut. There are some tutorials or links to tutorials available on this forum that many people have found very useful.

I'm not sure what else to tell you just now. Enjoy the system and certainly post any questions you have as they come up. Please note that there is a search function available on these forums. If you have a specific question, try entering a keyword or two about your question and see if it has been answered.
