Quick Question

Post by CynBark »

I have been playing with both Inkscape and the trial version of SCAL (to see if I want to purchase). I can navigate and create fairly well in Inkscape and then I save as an .svg. I import into SCAL and nothing is there. I purchased a .svg file off the internet and when I import it shows up in SCAL. I then took that premade .svg and opened it up in inkscape and changed part of it. When I import into SCAL all that shows up is the premade part, not the part I did. Help. Do you have to "finalize" something in inkscape and then save?

Before you save in Inkscape did you go
Select All
Object - Group
Path - Union
Then file Save As?

I did what you said and it still didn't work. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong . . . I am getting frustrated. I finally took out what I wanted in my purchased .svg file, imported into SCAL, added what I wanted and then saved as a SCAL project. I will use that to cut. But I still want to figure out what I am doing wrong in Inkscape.

Post the svg file that is not working here and I am sure someone will have a look at it and see what might be going wrong and let you know.

can you post the steps *exactly* as you do them?

I'm positive that you're just missing one simple step in the process.
