Desperately seeking simple cornstalk

Post by DHNewbie »

I'm looking for a simple cornstalk svg or font for my nephew's Christmas present-- I have a shape I drew I'd like to use, but I haven't mastered Inkscape for tracing yet. . .

Thanks!

If you can post the image you drew here I can convert it into Inkscape for you and then you can just cut it in SCAL. Unless someone has one already done.

Thank you so much for your offer.

I'll have to scan it into my computer b/c I drew it freehand -- why do my fingers work on paper & NOT on the screen (I get crazy, uncontrollable images). Would that still work? What file types can be imported into Inkscape? (Usually when I scan something for work I get a Microsoft Imaging Document that I convert to pdf.)

Let me know if you think that'd work or if you have another idea.

Thanks again.

.pdf's sometimes work but .jpg's are the best for importing into Inkscape.
But check out Jancy's file above which might be what you are wanting.

OK, I'm about to go insane -- I thought I'd scan the image in & then try to save it as an svg file by myself, but all I'm getting is a blank square. I've read all the tuts about importing pdfs & tracing, so here's what I'm doing:

Inkscape:
Import - touch nothing in the box & click OK
Select All
Path>Object to Path
Path>Trace Bitmap
I've tried all the suggestions I read about tracing -- change first box to .65, select "Remove background"
When I hit OK in Trace Bitmap the box still stays there like nothing is happening. Is there something else I need to do?
Save as Plain SVG

SCAL:
When I open in SCAL, it's a blank square.

Is there something wrong with my file? I'm uploading the tiff since pdfs aren't allowed if someone could take a look. I'd like to do this with other drawings I have, but not if it makes me pull my hair out. . . :)

Thanks for any help.

Hmmm. When I scan it, my only option is a TIFF & then I created a pdf from that. I don't think I have the option of a jpeg.

I'm uploading the raw imported file into Inkscape if that helps.

Thanks.

I was just playing so I could learn...what I did was imported your file, then under edit did make a bitmap copy, then I was able to do all the other steps, and it seems to have worked for me.

OH MY GOSH. That' EXACTLY what I needed.

Can you be more specific about the steps you took? Did you import the original tiff file?

THanks!
