Unable to cut because it's not connected??

I have the first version of SCAL the one you were supposed to be able to use with the cricut (seems like forever ago!). I've never really had a problem with it. In the last weekish, when I go to cut an SVG or whatever, it'll say it cant because there isn't a machine connected. I know the machine is connected, I have a brand new cord etc. Then I will randomly turn it on and it will work once or twice then give me the same issue. Any ideas of how to fix this?!

Hi, have you checked your USB cable? Perhaps it is loose.
What computer and OS are you using? (win, vista etc). What cricut are you using?
Sometimes these details make a difference as to the answer.

It's not lose. I've unplugged and replugged it in a hundred times, I've tried all the ports of 2 laptops. My computer is windows 7 and it's a cricut expression!

Do you have SCAL1 or SCAL2. If you have SCAL2, make sure you have the latest upgrade. Use this link for upgrades.
