svg "packages" of items

Post by Triplechin »

Can anyone help. I have bought svg files, eg santa, how do I take the bits that are all packaged together and split them so that I can maybe cut out the beard and hair, and then hat and gloves all separate so that I dont need to cut everything out of each sheet of card? I am presuming I will have to use inkscape (no idea how to do that though).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You need to go thru this forum and read the tuts on how to use inkscape. Go to Susan Bluerobots blog and she has simple lessons on how to use Inkscape. Just print out the lesson and have it in front of you and go step by step. Once you learn it, it is easy.

If the pieces are separated, just size the entire file accordingly on SCAL and use scraps of paper. You can cut all of your pieces at one time in all sorts of colors....using scraps. Does that make sense????

Thanks very much for your help girls, yes I need to learn inkscape, whether I find it easy enough is another matter, but its a necessary evil I think. The patterns come all in one file and they will need to be separated in inkscape. Hope to have to chance to do that tomorrow.
