Reinstalling SCAL 2

Long story - computer crashes and was fixed, programs/files backed up on external hard drive. Computer somes back and through a few headaches was able to get most items reinstalled on computer (except shapes library for SCAL2). Then I download SCAL3 for use with Cameo. Well the USB ports on computer were shorting out so back in for service. Tonight I am trying to install SCAL 2 from my disk and the computer will not acknowledge SCAL 2, keeps asking for a serial number which as entered. Now it wants an activation number. Why? Where do I find this? I am so ready to shoot the computer or software one - lol. I have never had issues like this so I do not know what is going on excpet I want to be done with all of it. Can anyone help?
