Hi there
Two questions I am newly trying to weld fonts is there a trick to this because whenever I nudge them together they cut into the other letter and Scal cuts it that way.
2. Whenever I try to do Blackout or Shadow with a word in scal some of the letters show up but there is alway one or two that are simply bland my last font was lucida handwriting.
Any help would be appreciated as it is a little frustrating.
Thanks
Beth

Re: Help with welding
If you are typing each letter so that it goes into a separate cut (by that I mean that it could be moved by itself anywhere on the mat) you need to make sure that the weld check box is checked for all the letters. If you are doing just one big word and nudging each letter, then the weld check box for the entire word needs to be checked.

Beth yes this happens at times. I find just to reduce the shadow or blackout size down by 1 and it will come back again. Usually I only change the size on the one letter that has disappeared, not on all of them and I never notice the difference in the end result.

Re: Help with welding
Thanks so much for your help, I did check the weld box and it did weld them together, however scal cuts into the next letter I hope I am making sense the cut line intersect with the next letter and SCAL cuts them that way, I may be missing a step I do check weld before I type the word and it does weld them but the cut cuts each letter seperatley and cuts into the next letter.
Thanks
Beth

Check that the letters are overlapping and not just touching. Also use the preview before cutting and it will show you if it is going to cut the letters with cuts in the middle or not. I also find sometimes it pays to use the magnified view of the mat to really see if your letters are touching and overlapping or just missing each other by a really small distance.
If that isn't working can you save the scut file and post it so we can open it and have a look at it?
