I don't have one of these but have been reading about them and thought it would be a good idea to try and create one I can put on my mantel or even attach to my gifts. Haven't cut it yet, but plan to do a few. Was thinking I could use card board or something solid as a base so it might actually sit and to give it a solid backing.
I imagine it would be a good P&C too.
I cropped a little random face picture so that I can put a picture an designed it so I can put a picture of my husband or me in its place (depending on who originated the gift).
The pieces are all grouped so be sure to un-group and pull apart if you decide you want to use.

How cute....someone was looking for one of these last week or so. Sure hopes she finds it. Great idea for an ornament.

Re: Elf on the Shelf
So here is my project with the elf on the shelf. It is sitting on the TV credenza near the Christmas tree. Finally got some time to cut a few things and this was at the top of my list. You know those corrugated pieces that come on curtain packs? That is what I used for the base and just trimmed it down a little and it folded nicely for the elf to sit on. Covered the base with Christmas scrapbook paper. Then I used a knife to cut a slit that his body could sit in and put some tacky glue in the slit first. Put a piece of red paper on his back to the back of the corrugated piece and he sits up just fine. Snipped out an image of my husband for the face (yep it's a little small, but that's o.k.). Oh, and on the back I took a piece of the corrugated that I cut off and attached it to the back to it would sit (like a picture frame).
