Firmware question

I just got my new Expression yesterday. This is also my first one. I really want to purchase SCAL but I am not sure if it will work. I had the the trial version of CDS but uninstalled and installed the older version that someone provided a link for. I see where you upgrade your firmware but it does not give me an option as to which firmware to choose. As of right now I can't use SCAL, can anyone tell me if I am going to be able to and what I can do?

I'm in the same situation! I have SCAL on 2 computers and I also have a little bug and a big bug. I also have Design studio. I e-mailed tech support and I was told that they could tell me when we would be able to update our firmware. I was told that if we wanted to keep SCAL for us to wait to update. I enjoy both programs and I don't want to lose either. I will just wait. I read a post on the cricut site that said that provocraft did it on purpose to keep us from using SCAL. This person talked to customer service (provo craft). Good Luck to you as I said before I'll wait on the SCAL update. Monica

The version of the firmware is tied to the particular DS upgrade. So if you install the older DS, you get the older firmware.
