SCAL shuts down while initializing?

Hi! I've been using SCAL for months. I have the occassional freezing problem when I move something... but it's always worked fine once I start it back up... until last night. Saturday I used SCAL and it worked fine. Sunday I opened SCAL, typed in some words, nudged them a bit and hit cut... the little screen came up checking for the machine, etc... but when it gets to initializing a second window pops up saying that SCAL has shut down. I still have the cricut 2.1 software, I tried shutting down & restarting both my cricut & my computer, I tried to redo the font I had typed in, my cricut USB is plugged directly into my computer, I've tried all the tips & tricks I found from looking at this board, but I can't fix this... everytime I get that pop-up saying that SCAL has had an error and is closing. Any ideas???

I had this happen to me twice this morning. I hope we can get a reason and a fix on what is causing this to happen.

Did it happen everytime? Did you get it to work? What did you do? I have not been able to get mine to work since this happened....

My husband got a message this morning that a virus had been embedded in the program. I am checking on it, but wondering if I am not the only one. Could this be why this is happening?

I have been able to use both CDS & SCAL until yesterday (I haven't done the CDS firmware update yet) and now I am having problems too.

Has anyone else had this message?

Any more info on this problem? May I ask which program you are referring to? I was without a computer for three days trying to get rid of a virus I think I picked up visiting a blog. I need to learn how to quit clicking on random links!

When my problems started happening, I would shut the program down and restart it and it would work fine. I was trying to do 3 different cuts and it would do the first cut and then I would make my changes for the next cut and it would get to the "checking mat" part and not go any further.

I did use it again yesterday doing different cuts and I didn't have any problems.
