HELP! Mega problems with new download

Post by kelsie94 »

I just replaced my laptop and went from Windows XP to Windows 7. I deactivated my SCAL2 on my old laptop and activated it on my new laptop (as per instructions from Craftedge). I have the latest version of scal 2.038c installed. Everything worked fine for a couple days but today I think its possessed.

It throws whatever is on my mat all over the place, even resizing some items. If that isn't enough, the program freezes, then I get a message stating SCAL has stopped working and will close. (I've tried many of the saved files I downloaded from this forum and they are all doing that.) :(

I've been using SCAL since it came out and for the life of me never had these kind of problems.

Any help would be appreciated at this point. Thanks in advance. :)

How are you running the program? You might try changing the compatibility mode.

I run in XP (SP2) compatibility with my Win7 machine. Be sure to deactivate it before you change the compatibility, for some reason when you change compatibility it doesn't recognize that it is already activated.

Right Click on the SCAL Icon. A window will pop up. Choose the Compatibility tab and there will be a box to check and a menu with different options.

i run vista 32bit os and installed the new updated version and it would take up to 30 minute to even open then it froze and or shut down and i tried everything and had to write support to even get to the older version to put back on the computer.

Guess I spoke too soon. It's super crazy now! After I open a file, no matter what I do to it, even if its just clicking once on the item, when I close and re-open it, it goes nuts. The mat will show at 50% (which is what I saved it as) but the items on the mat are now super-sized and way off the mat.......like they are 200% bigger! EVERY time! I'm so tempted to go back to a new version of SCAL - and my old faithful laptop LOL (even if it does take 10 minutes to open a program) :(

Check your snap feature it may be set at 1in by default . I was having the same problem with the first 20.38 download and someone on this forum (Sorry can't remember who but Thank You) posted the fix. Just change the snap feature to none. It fixed the problem for me with Vista. I downloaded 20.38c for my sister she has windows 7 her so I checked the snap feature and it was set to none. I hope this solves the problem for you. :D
