SCAL Filetype Icons

Post by oddmentsandtweaks »

So, I've noticed that windows XP doesn't have any icons to handle SCUT, SCUT2, or SVG files. I'm rather OCD, so I had to make my own so that it would look somewhat good as I'm searching for files.

I thought I would share them with everyone. You can download them from my DeviantArt account here: http://genevevex.deviantart.com/art/SCA ... -191378937

In Windows XP, to set your file-type icons, go to the control panel, and under Classic View, click Folder Options (you can also get there by opening My Documents, going to Tools->Folder Options on the menu bar). When the window comes up, click the "File Types" tab. In the "Registered File Types:" box, scroll down until you find the SCUT or SCUT2 filetype. Highlight the filetype, and click the "Advanced" button on the lower right. Click the "Change Icon" button and then browse to the icon file and select it. Click OK until you get back to the main window. Repeat for any other file types you would like to do this with, then click "Close" to exit. Voila!

To set your folder icon in Windows XP, right-click on the folder you want to change the icon of and select Properties. Click on the Customize tab. Click the Change Icon button at the bottom, click browse, and then browse for the icon you want to use. Click Open, then OK, and OK again. Voila! The icon should be changed. (Quick note here--the best way to see your icons is to have the view in your folder set to View->Thumbnails, or View->Tiles. Also, be aware that by default, Windows XP does not allow you to change My Music, My Videos, My Pictures, or My Shapes folders)

I'm not certain about changing these in Windows Vista or 7 at this time.

Here's a preview image of how the icons look:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS, and think the progam needs to help us with this automatically ultimately. I visually need the help. Right now in Windows 7, it's reassigned an adobe icon and I can't get it off. I can't even get it to redirection to scal2 to open them with that. It won't accept that "browse for program to associate with this file" setting.
