This totally annoys me.

I don't normally speak my mind online and I will probably ruffle some feathers here but this is a real beef of mine. I get very annoyed when businesses use this forum as their personal advertising site for svgs. Post after post after post of advertisements! Enough already!!! This forum is for sharing, helping and fun......not a free place to try and make money. Now before anyone bites my head off, I have no problem with the odd blurb about something someone has to sell - used cricut etc, but when we're constantly bombarded with buy, buy, buy from a business, it gets to me. If you want to share some of your files for FREE that's great. Some of you may say you like the advertisements and that's fine too but many of us don't so I would suggest, maybe BUY an ad from the moderator to be posted permanently on the forum (like Split Coast Stampers does) instead of filling up the forum with advertising POSTS. (Yes, I can skip over them if I don't want to look at them but how many of you are also annoyed with all the other SPAM we are getting on this forum? In my mind, it's the same thing)........IMHO!

What I don't like is why they have to post more than one thread. Post one and if people want to open it and check out your files, so be it.

I agree. I don't mind one occasional post offering a free file to get you to see what they have on their site, but to just use the forum to advertise for free isn't right. I make it a point not to shop at any site that does that. It's like watching TV and having one commercial after another come on until you get to a point where you stop watching TV.

To our friends in this SCAL forum: We think these comments may be directed toward us, and we appreciate you saying something. We apologize for offending you. Perhaps we're not quite sure how to fit in and would like you to tell us more. We view this forum as an opportunity to share our knowledge and expertise, because there seems to be an interest among crafters to know more about vinyl. We thought you would enjoy our free designs and new layout announcements, but perhaps we crossed the line without meaning to. We are really sorry. We tried to list our things in specific categories, where only one post would be shown. But we see in the new comment feed that every post is lumped together.

Please let us know how we can best contribute to this forum. We want you to be interested and excited when you view our posts. Michelle

I kinda had mixed thoughts about the original post but I totally understand where they are coming from.. and I have to say I do side with them.. Perhaps what you can do is ask Craftedge to do a subcategory for vinyl designs only.. That way it would be lumped into one area only.. I think it would make it a lot easier to find your stuff as well.. Would you not think it would?? Anyhow again I want to commend you on such a great response...

I feel the same way as sweetness I love the helpful resources of your site and although I do not purchase many designs from anyone I love many of yours

But the idea of a vinyl section is awesome Idea it would be nice if they would, Because some times that stuff has a mind of it's own

I have to respectfully disagree, while it's possible that the more than one post is over the top. We have to be fair and balanced. If there is no attention to advertising then that encompasses alot. Which means no mention of blogs where there are freebies but also files to buy. We have many members who give of themselves to the board, but also say "come to my blog for more". They are "businesses" as well. If what is offered is in the spirit of using SCAL and is a help to our membership, then I see no real harm. Do we need an advertising free for all? Of course not.

I would love to see MyVinylDesigner and others offer more to the site in interaction and education instead of just announcements of sales and such. But I have no problem with them posting about a sale or new file given that others do so as well. The issue is that they don't "give" to the site as much for me, but that's it. But their posts don't bother me. I don't think we can blame them if we happen to view new posts and on the day they post, it appears they have posted too much. That is just a glitchy way View New posts works.

I personally don't mind the posts from our friends at myvinyldesigner. I have found many beautiful designs there, as well as ideas. I persoanlly am more annoyed at the constant shoe sales, etc., that are not cricut related at all. Those would be the ones, in my humble opinion, with whom to be annoyed.

Don't get me wrong.. I don't find it annoying that they post but it would be nice to find their stuff in one place.. Especially when it comes to working with vinyl. .That's why I stated a subforum for vinyl work specifically would be nice.. It would make it a lot easier to find.. Just like we have subforums for svgs, SCAL, Inkscape and such.. A vinyl subforum would be super... and it would even give others a place to show their work they've done with vinyl.. I guess my response made it sound as if I had a problem with their advertising but trust me I don't..
