Post by zebra »

How do you figure the cost to cut vynil letters, quotes, etc. Is there a guide somewhere?

All I know is I don't charge enough! LOL.
I cut 100 window decals for $1.50 each. They are about 10" wide by about 1 1/2" tall. I cut some big 4" wide by 6" tall decals for $2.00 each. I did a 9' by 2' sign for $10.00 a square foot.

There are some good tips on myvinyldesigner.com about pricing and being sure not to undercut yourself. You can see the information here: http://www.myvinyldesigner.com/retailpricing.aspx And for their trouble and help in providing us such a service, how about buying a file or two from them to use. They are nice ladies and very helpful and do this service for their customers.

On their blog they talk a little more about going up or down from those base prices based on the design. As an example there is someone on the cricut site that was asking about pricing for a very detailed and weed heavy lion and the weeding time would add to the price. Whereas if doing a simple decal, you might drop down from that price.

I personally looked all over the internet at different decal sites before deciding what worked for me. You'll find that while prices are all over the place, most places charge by the size so have charts that reflect 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, etc. If you combine that info with the Myvinyldesigner site, you can find a good ballpark. Don't forget to add a portion of your charge to keep in rotation for supplies.
