Can someone please explain SVG files?
I am brand new to using SCAL and I'm seeing all of the really neat images that you all have made that are an SVG file. How do I use this with SCAL? I downloaded one and when I clicked to open the file in SCAL nothing opened. Sorry if this is a dumb question or has been asked before. If you can point me to a thread or tutorial that explains it I'll be glad to read it. Thanks for your help!

Duh!!! Nevermind, I figured it out. This is so cool! Sorry for my over enthusiasm but I'm so excited about this. I can wait to make something with this software.

Re: Can someone please explain SVG files?
SVG files are vector files that can be cut in SCAL. There are many software packages on the market used to create them. I use Inkscape which is a free software program.
Using SVG, we are able to actually cut anything in SCAL that we can convert. If you check the SVG Section and scroll down, you will see another section where we posted files before the upper section was created. You have to import an .svg file into SCAL and then cut.
Sometimes you will run into a file that has pieces that should be cut in different colors. That requires you laying out your paper on the mat to match the placement on the virtual mat (computer). For instance, if a piece is between 1" and 2" on the virtual mat and you want that piece to cut out in red, put a piece of red paper at that spot on the physical mat.

To use an SVG file in SCAL, you need to IMPORT it rather than open it. Import is on the File drop-down menu.
