I imported your second post, I believe it was saved as an svg even though you couldn't see it. Then I did the make bitmap copy then followed all the other steps for tracing bitmap and so on. I'm sure there is someone here that can explain MUCH better than me, I only butted in on this conversation early so I could try to learn. Usually when I try something like this I don't post but I was shocked at myself for figuring it out.

I have attached a svg file that you should be able to import and cut in SCAL.

I GOT IT!!! It was the "trace bitmap" step that I hadn't done. I am extremely indebted for your help -- now I have visions of all sorts of new drawings I can scan & cut.
