will I lose SCAL
I have scal 2 with my cricut and since there are no more updates to SCAL2 for the cricut, if I plug my cricut into my computer to update filmware, will it prevent me from ever using my SCAL again I have the last version of SCAL2 that was ever relaesed
Re: will I lose SCAL
Why do you have to update firmware...?
I don't think it will mess anything up, but I have not heard anyone say anything about it.
I updated all the fonts and had to reinstall and reactivate 'everything' because I had to install a new Windows, and everything is fine...but I did not have to update the firmware on the cutter...so I don't know.
Good luck with your decision...let us know.

You will be fine by updating your firmware. Had my friend update her machine so when we scrap together she can use my PC and her own machine and mats. It updated fine. Did this about 2 weeks ago. I would not wait if you must update, but if you have been using SCAL2 all along, you really should not need to update the firmware I would think.

I think firmware updates are for the cricut itself. I want to update the cartridges in DS as I have a couple that do not show up. So I assume this will be safe to do - yes?

I did that about a month ago and everything seems fine.

That is something I didn't know....that you had to update cartridges. I have DS, but I honestly don't use it since discovering SCAL.

You should be able to update the cartridges as they are the Font Updates on the website. I keep DS updated with the addl carts but I do not update the software, which is a separate file.frkrhe wrote:I think firmware updates are for the cricut itself. My understanding is that at some point, ProvoCraft/Cricut, will put out a file, that when you update your Cricut firmware, you will no longer be able to use SCAL. I don't know when this is supposed to happen, but be careful when updating your Cricut.

Yes SVG Cuts that works closely with Todd says Not to do any more updates that this may happen. I value my Scal too much to worry about using DS.
