Fonts that match the Cricut Cartridges

Post by Julie.Jenkins »

This is from the general section http://forums.surecutsalot.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=556
But I thought it was appropriate to have it here too. There is a list of fonts that are similar to the cartridges.

Here's a related topic that might be helpful. I looked through several of the shapes cartridges to see what matches I could find among free dingbat fonts. Most are not perfect matches, but it gives you an idea of the possibilities out there:

Street Sign: Wm Roadsigns, DingDongs and Lucida Sans
Indie Art: KR Lippy, LA Decorations 1, sbding2, WM Symbols, WM Tools
Camp Out: Animal Tracks, AEZ Camping, lpwildlife2, animals, Fonts of Africa Sample, KR Menagerie, WM trees
Home Accents: Ellipses, Flora Deco, Fleurons, LA Decorations, lpartdeco2, lpflowers2, lpornamental1, Webdings
Stone Script: Viner Hand, Brush Script, Lucida Calligraphy
Baseball: WM-Hats, WM-Foods1, 4YeoSport, Monotype Sorts2, lpsports1, WC Sold Out A Bta
Soccer: 4YeoSport, Monotype Sorts2, lpsports1, WC Sold Out A Bta
Wedding: Fleurons, Fantas Second, Free, lpartdeco2, WC Fetish bta, WM-Dinnerware1, WM-Hats, Xmas Tyme
Pooh Font: Pooh (matches letters not shapes)
Pooh & Friends: New Pooh, Pooh Bear
Locker Talk: WM-Education1, WM-Drama1, Webdings, WC Sold Out A Bta, WM-Transport1, WM-Dinnerware1

Many were found from links to a uk index. Sorry I can't remember the exact link, but it is on one of the threads of this forum.

I'm trying to see if we can get some categories under Fonts so that we can have a place to put fonts like carts without the messages getting lost. When / if we get the categories, it'd be great to have these lists in a message there.

Anyone have the Plantin Schoolbook font? I can't find it free anywhere - and the cost is astronomical!

If you have Windows, you probably have Century Schoolbook. CS looks an awful lot like the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge. It doesn't have the shapes, but it seems to be the same or very similar font. You can get the square, rectangle, oval, circle and a similar heart from the Basic Shapes in SCAL. SCAL also has a variety of stars, but not one as pointed as on the cart. You can easily create the tag that looks like a rectangle with a triangle on top with a hole from basic shapes - weld a rectangle and a triangle and a tiny circle for the hole together. There are flowers, apples and leaves in SCAL in the SVG folders. I think you can curve letters in Inkscape - I don't think you can in SCAL directly. HTH
