Post by larissanicole »

okay I'm just starting to learn to use inkscape and cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn a coloring page image into a usable cuttable image. Any help would be so appeciated :)

1 Most of the coloring pages have a link to save so save as a bmp or jpg. Open in photoediting software and remove any lines you won't need for your cut, if any. For instance, if you have a page with MM in trees and you only want MM, use the eraser tool to remove the lines you don't want. Save

2 Open in Inkscape. Make sure the image is selected (will have arrows around it) and go to Path>Trace bitmap. Usually for a coloring book page, the default setting is fine. Click on the Update button and you will get an idea of your trace. If you need adjustment, make them...there are plenty of tools to work with. Click on OK. If this does not make a good trace, delete the traced version, select the original version and start over.

3 Once you get a good trace, save. Open in SCAL to see if it looks like you want. This will actually create an outline so if you want layers, you will have to use Path>Break Apart.
Doin the Bug...ain't nothin wrong if you wanna do da Bug all nite long...
