I posted a question in another thread about shapes and realized I have nothing in my shapes library and I should. I was told I may want to try to update SCAL and download the latest version. So I went out and downloaded it, but when I click on my icon on my desktop (on my MAC) it still pulls up the original version I downloaded last year (2.004). When I go out and look in my finder for the SCAL and launch it from there it tells me its 2.043 but its the trial version.
Is there something else I have to do to get this on my laptop?
Thanks for any help!

Re: Updated version not pulling up
You installed the updated version in a new location. Uninstall your most recent update (the trial version), then install the updated version in the same place that you installed the original (do Not uninstall the 2.004 version). SCAL is location specific, so if you install in a new location the activation will not work. HTH
Re: Updated version not pulling up
Ok after checking I saw that I did indeed load this in a different location, so I removed what I just loaded and verified that what I had left still worked. I moved this file to the same one that my mac was loading too and downloaded again. Now I can only find one copy on my MAC and its the trial version. Anyway to fix that?
Re: Updated version not pulling up
Just an updated - luckily I had written my registration number down so when the trial version came up I just tried entering that number in, and it worked. I am able to get in. Thanks!

Welcome to the board...glad it all worked out!

I am trying to find the SCAL 2 mac trial version. Can anyone provide me this file so I can try it out with my cricut? Thanks!
Re: Updated version not pulling up
Drew, SCAL2 is no longer available to new buyers, because ProvoCraft (makers of the Cricut) sued CraftEdge and won't let them provide a license to the software any more. Don't be fooled by ANYONE who says they can sell you a version of SCAL2. The license you buy from them is NOT transferable to anyone else.
Sorry,
Sorry,

Re: Updated version not pulling up
Thx. I knew about scal2 not being sold anymore. I was hoping if I get a copy of the Mac trial I could still activate it through their servers if they perchance still sold a license this way.papasue wrote:Drew, SCAL2 is no longer available to new buyers, because ProvoCraft (makers of the Cricut) sued CraftEdge and won't let them provide a license to the software any more. Sorry,
I guess this is not the case.
Is there anything comparable to scal 2 for the cricut? (besides what cricut sells).
Thanks .

Unfortunately no. Provo went after everyone that made that software. Their loss, but eventually our gain as newer machines that cut better are on the market that do not require their cartridges.

What cutters would you recommend?
Thanks for your input!
