Cutting a pdf image?

I have a pdf image that I'd like to cut. I am unable to open the image in SCAL. I think I've done this before, although it was a long time ago. I tried to search here to find directions, but no such luck. I've tried to import the image, but it isn't acknowledged. I need this to use as a mat with another scalloped oval.

Ok--I tried to upload the image and the site won't allow a pdf upload. Sorry.......

You can email it to me and I will see what I can do with it. I have done a lot of scroll saw patterns that way and they came up fine.

Use File/Import to import a vector PDF. Last I checked it would only open the first page of a pdf though, so if you have a multi-page pdf your best option is to open the page that you want in Inkscape and make any changes needed for cutting (a lot vectors not made for cutting have line segments and they can't be closed in SCAL yet), then save as svg. HTH

Here is your scalloped oval. All I do is open the pdf, click on print screen and click paste in my paint program (I use paint.net) and save it as a jpg.

If you have anything later than Vista including vista you can also use the snipping tool.. I do that all the time..

Thanks so much for this! I don't have a paint program. I just haven't needed it. I really thought I had done this in the past with SCAL. I guess not. This image was scanned and then put onto a Word doc.

I tried the FILE>Import, but I get a message stating that the "Import Failed."

I don't have Vista. I'm on a MAC.
