Post by susiecm3 »

Can anyone help with the latest problem i have with my expression!!

Sorry guys you must be fed up, i have emailed craftedge but thought i would check here incase i am missing something simple

when i plug my cricut in it wont recognice the usb i have 3 ports and i have tried them all, last time i installed the drivers again by running as administrator and it worked fine that evening, went to try it tonight and it wont again, this time it still wont after doing drivers, the thing is my expression starts up fine without usb connected, soon as i put usb in it stops at the cart info on screen and wont go any further :-(

I have spent the last 2 hours trying to cut something, i dont actually get anything done

Perhaps try it the opposite way, and plug everything in and then turn on the E...you should hear a noise indicating that the device is recognized. Not sure if this will help. Whenever anything doesn't work for me I turn everything off, unplug everything right to the wall, wait a while, come back plug it all back in, turn on the computer, OPEN SCAL and then turn on the E.(edited to be correct), and I would not have any other designing software open at the same time.

My mom's laptop has a problem with the drivers. She has to install them almost every time she cuts. I think it is something that has gone wrong with her Windows OS. Try what GJ1 said, plug the cricut in, and then power it on. If your computer says "found new hardware" run through the usb driver install.

Also, are you using XP compatibility mode?

If you purchased SCAL1 you can still cut from it. I don't think CE still sells it though. It is still available for download here. http://www.craftedge.com/download/download1.html

Have you tried running your SCAL2 in XP compatibility mode? If you haven't, then deactivate your SCAL through the About menu, then change to XP service pack 2 and re-activate. There is more on XP compatibility mode here. http://www.craftedge.com/products/xpmode.html
