Help! Getting multiple cuts but multi-cut is turned off

Please? I've been trying for two days to cut this stupid birthday card, and as soon as I fix one problem, another one appears.

I have multi-cut turned off, but it's cutting the design twice anyway. What am I doing wrong?

Oh.... I'm using SCAL2 on a Cricut Expression v 2.31.

The design might have double lines that are close together. SCAL was not able to cut open pathes (just a line) so we improvised my making the single line a closed path (it too techie, don't worry). In creating a closed path, the cutter has to cut what looks like a straight line twice.

If you can post, someone can look at it.

I don't think that was it. I designed the image myself in photoshop. Anyway, I turned it on and off a few times and finally got it to cooperate. Thanks.
