Is there a trick to making very large images?

Hi, I'm a newbie and have the original SCAL. When I try making cuts larger than 12x24 I have problems with the image boxes. I understand that I have to cut the images in half, but if I make the boxes too large, then I can no longer select the sizer box b/c it's off the screen.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am not sure as I am pretty new to this, But you may have to split it up into layer and resize the individual pieces separately. I am responding to this to move it back up the ladder , so the ladies who know will see it.
