I've had scal over a year and have used inkscape, I just upgraded to SCAL2 and wanted to use the trace image - layers to see how much easier it would be. I've been trying it and it has not been working - I'm sure I am just missing something. I have looked through the different tutorials etc., but not finding the answer - hoping someone could give me step by step, so I can see what I am missing. Here is just one idea - not too many colors or pieces.
Thanks for any help.

Re: need help with tracing image
Here is the same image as a line drawing. http://disney-stationary.com/coloring-b ... leaves.jpg You will get a better trace with the line drawing, especially since red is close in value to black. The layers trace won't automatically give you layers by color, it puts each closed shape on its own layer (if you use Break apart Outlines).
You can either trace it with Break Apart Outlines selected, and it will put each closed shape on its own layer, or you can trace the image, then use Object/Break apart to separate the pieces. This option leaves all of the pieces on the same layer.
