made my first cut using SCAL2 trialing BUT

Post by ScattyCardCrafter »

It only cut part of my design.

It did the main scallop border but none of the ovals or hearts even though I grouped it and welded it.
What did I do wrong?

:-(
My trial time is running out and I so want to make at least one successful cut before I pay for it.

it didn't cut the ovals or hearts. just the scallop and lots of extra lines.I know about the three cuts whilst using trial method.
I will take a photo of the actual piece cut and post that so you can see what happened. I have penned in the actual cuts as not sure they will show up otherwise

Extra info.
When I imported my design back into the workspace and clicked on the image it only highlighted one of the ovals with heart. does this mean I missed a stage somewhere or it didn't save it? OR I Didn't save it correctly.

I am confused.
Thanks

It didn't cut the inside pieces because you have the weld turned on (weld tells it not to cut overlapping parts (this works great when you want to put letter on top of each other etc.)) You can check to see what isn't going to cut by hitting the icon to the right of the scissors.

I highlighted you large piece (the scallop border) and unclicked the weld then all of the ovals were going to cut (I checked by hitting the icon to the right of the scissors - the ovals are red now when that is clicked but the hearts were still grayed out. So I highligthed the first oval and unclicked the weld. The heart now was red when I clicked on the icon to the right of the scissors. You are going to need to do each oval individually.

Have fun!

Oh thank you.
I obviously got it the wrong way round, thinking I needed to weld it to make it cut it all out.
BUT when you say I am going to have to do each oval separately I am not sure I understand what you mean.
surely you don't mean cut each one by using the last position method.

Do you know of a tutorial I can look at that would help me with this.
I looked at the heart with a grid is it similar to that?
I am lost now. :-(

When I said you need to do each oval separately - I mean click on each oval and unclick the weld before you cut it.

If you are in trial mode, it won't cut correctly anyway. There are usually slash lines thru the cutting until you pay for the program. Buy it, you won't regret it.

Hi Linda.!
Please NOTE I KNOW about the slash cuts in trial mode.
BUT I NEED it to cut one design as I have made it, at least once.
I am practicing.
But Getting one design correctly cut will save me lots of wasted card/paper if I can do the first one properly.
What would be the point of paying for a program I cannot use.
I know I can't get a refund once i have paid for it.
