Noob Questions Gypsy & SCAL

Post by AngieLovesHerCricut »

Hi There! :D

I've spent a couple hours looking over some of the posts here, and while I'm a noob here and to SCAL, I'm certainly not a noob with the cricut.

I have invested in about 35+ cartridges, DS, and the Gypsy. I actually really like the Gypsy, especially since you can travel easily with it and create designs on the go.
I don't want to stop using the gypsy, or purchase a second CE, but I would like to not have to buy every single cartridge that comes out ~So I wanted to know if anyone has the gypsy and SCAL and if your Gypsy and DS is being used on your cricut on the regular, would putting SCAL on your computer and hooking it to the cricut mess anything up?

The Gypsy is a ver tempermental little thing, and I wouldn't want to upset her to the point she won't work anymore. Hubby just spent over $250 for that for Christmas and I don't want to break it or anything. I guess I want to know if I could go back and forth between SCAL and gypsy and DS on a regular basis without causing any upset to either item.

Any advice here is much appreciated! I want to get more out of what I have, but not at the expense of my CE, DS, and Gypsy.

Thanks so much!

Hi Angie,

I also have Design Studio, Gypsy, Cricut Expression, an Originial Cricut (My baby bug), and SCAL...and I love them all for their own reasons! I use SCAL (I have version 2) with both my Cricut Expression and Baby Bug and have not had any issues what-so-ever. Gypsy does not interact with SCAL (though how awesome would that be for someone to develop a program for her so we could!!!).

Hope this helps!

I am using a Mac and I have SCAL 1. I have wanted a Gypsy, but I thought there might be some issues with firmware on the Cricut machine itself. Was that a problem for anyone? Before I get a Gypsy, I'm definitely planning on purchasing SCAL 2.
