Newbie, need help making this into SVG file?

Post by malibelle »

I got for christmas SCAL and cricut create but new to using both and need to get this done asap so I have not time to learn.

I want to put up this wall quote over our soon to be son's crib. We are doing a Neverland Theme. I like the American Classsic font with the larger letters in Sandscript but I am up for creativity.

Next question: once its a svg, will I have to enlarge it and make sure the scale is the same for each word, correct? Any help would be appreciated.

You will probably want to either make your own mat or cut a 12x24" mat in half so that you have a longer length to work with. See this post for more on making/using your own mat. http://forums.surecutsalot.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3922 and this post has a little on cutting the 12x24" mats. http://forums.surecutsalot.com/viewtopi ... 59&p=21548

The easiest way to create your artwork would be to create the words at the size you want to cut them. Do this either directly in SCAL or use Inkscape.

Are the lines under the words and, in, fly and never part of the artwork?

Here is what I came up with. The artwork is 36" wide by 9" tall. You could cut this on your machine in 7 pieces. The extra solid squares are what you would use to align the pieces to each other. The outlined boxes represent what would be cut on each piece. I hope this makes sense.

Thank you! I will look into cutting the mat.

As for the SVG file, thank you! I will figure it out. I would never have thought of the boxes to align. An no the lines in teh original didn't belong, I didn't even notice when I posted. THis should make it much easier for me until I get to know this software and machine! Thanks so much!
