Cricut won't cut

I only recently bought the SCAL programme to use wih my Expression.I have managed to cut a few titles but now all I can cut is part of the first letter before my Cricut stops abruptly and spits the mat out! I have done the upgrade twice. Todd told me to de-install Design Studio and start all over again - did that! Still no joy! Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to solve it.

After you reinstalled the DSS (did you go to the original version?), did you do a firmware upgrade? The firmware upgrades according to the software installed...so you have to do a firmware upgrade if you installed the original software (before any upgrades). I had a problem with the blade dragging across the cut with DSS, Cricut and SCAL. Todd told me to uninstall, install the original version and then do a firmware upgrade...haven't had the problem and haven't looked back.

I had my mats spit out the back of the machine once because of Windows. Windows has upgraded and when it asked me if I wanted to reboot, I kept saying no...not realizing that was why I was having the problem. Once I rebooted, it was fine.
