ISO Winter Woodland like village

Post by jasenj1 »

I see the new Winter Woodland cartridge comes with six little 3D buildings. I'm very interested in doing a Christmas Village like this. Can someone point me to a source for buildings like this?

Follow this link to Martha Stewart.

You can download PDF templates. Unfortunately, the PDF files do not contain vector artwork. I would redraw them in Ink vs. tracing them.

I took the above MS pdf and redrew the church. The cutting layer is "Layer 1"

I have not cut it out on my Circut yet. please let me know if this works!

I am practicing as practice makes perfect.... or close to it!

When I open the file, all the lines came in stroked and not filled. I filled everything and it looks great! Good Job.

I use Illustrator, so the terms I use might be different. If you fill or paint a shape with a color, I call that Fill. If you outline a shape with a color, I call that stroke. For cutting, we only need shapes that are filled or painted. Either way, you are doing a great job. It takes a long time to really master any drawing program. I learned something new the other day when it comes to dealing with artwork and I have been using Illustrator for 14 years.

Thanks so much Todd.... Got it! I completely understand now about Stroke vs Fill... and what we need to do to have SCAL cut.

I know all about learning something new....I am an engineer and use a cadd program, and sometimes is it just good to watch our cadd folk do the drawings, because you pick up something new or maybe a shortcut way of doing something. :D

Beat me to it. I made just the outline of the house and the roof - no inner details. Since I don't have SCAL yet (Mac; firmware not compatible) can someone take a look at this file and let me know how it works?

One piece houses are definitely going to be exclusive to those who own the Expression. You really need the 24" mat to get a decent size. Once I get the technique down, though, it shouldn't be too hard to break the houses into 2 halves or even 4 walls for people with the smaller machines.
