Monograms
Here are 2 monograms I cut in vinyl. The first one illustrates what can be done in in MSWord's WordArt without Inkscape. The second one starts with MSWord but then uses Inkscape for a little stretching and welding. To learn how to bypass Inkscape with MSWord, check out the latest post on my blog.

Re: Monograms
Were the 3 letters saved as one svg or as 3 separate svgs? Also, did you use a shape template to know how/where to stretch the letters?

Re: Monograms
The 3 letters were all in one SVG. The WordArt function in MSWord automatically molds the text into a shape (in this case the inflate top and bottom shape). The top cut shows what it looked like fresh out of WordArt.
When I brought the svg into Inkscape so I could overlap the letters I ungrouped the letters, then merely stretched them horizontally... the center H in both directions and the outer letters toward the center so as to maintain the outer shape that WordArt had so nicely created for me.
