Confused about the updates!
I'm a little confused, so maybe somebody here can answer my question. I have an E and SCAL. I updated my firmware and my SCAL works and my E cuts. Why would I go and download something that is going to block my SCAL from working? I think I understand that when PC makes new cartridges to sell, they update their firmware so these carts can be used with DS and at that time they install a block so that SCAL won't work. Unless I was using DS and buying new carts, I don't see a problem for me. Am I correct? TIA

You are correct. No new Carts....no need to update firmware

Yes you are correct. If you have SCAL and updated firmware and it is going fine then there is no need for you to update again.
However some of us want to use DS as well and when they do updates like adding new features or new cartridges they change the firmware and one time they were able to add a block in so SCAL would not work with that version of firmware.
So if you don't want to use DS then you are fine and you won't have any blocking problems if Provocraft should come up with a new block in future. But Todd works it out and creates a fix anyway so we win eventually
