Inkscape Question
Inkscape Question
I can't seem to get the image to show in inkscape. I import a jpg, try to convert to svg and I can't see the image either way. I'm trying to break apart the image into pieces so I can cut it in different paper. I tried this a couple times before and it worked fine but now I get nothing. Any suggestions?

Re: Inkscape Question
You have the trace the bitmap before you save as svg. So you open the jpg, select the image, trace bitmap and then save as svg

Re: Inkscape Question
okay,so if I import a file I haven't played with before it works fine. If I import something I have already converted to svg then nothing. I'm trying to move individual pieces of a pattern already seperated so I can cut it in different shades of paper. Or since it is already an svg. then can I move individual pieces in SCAL?

Re: Inkscape Question
If you have saved it successfully as a .svg you can either OPEN in Inkscape or IMPORT into SCAL.
Don't try and import into Inkscape if you have saved it ok as a .svg

Re: Inkscape Question
Thank you, thank you, works just fine now. One of these days I'll get this all down. Thanks again for the help. So I have another question. When you have an image in SCAL can you move or delete individual pieces? I want to set it up to cut on the mat in different sections with different color paper. Or do I need to do that in Inkscape first? Does that make sense?

Re: Inkscape Question
You would have to do that in INK. You can open multiple files in SCAL so that would allow you to size the different files so they will fit. Size the files (I only do 2 at a time and the good part is that if one piece fits, all should as long as you didn't use stretch instead of resize...stretch will enlarge in one direction) and then delete one of the files, cut the one that's left, Edit undo so the deleted file is back and delete the file you have already cut. You could also write the W and H of the file before deleting.
It might be hard work but I find it worth the effort. If SCAL had multiple windows, it would be much easier, but alas, we have to make do.
