Just read that the free Design Studio trial ends in December. Just bought a new Cricut cardtridge plus have the SCAL program. Do I need to "update" or run this new Design Studio thing before the end of December to make the new cartridge work, and if so, will it still work with SCAL? Hate all this tech stuff!!

That's probably one of the reasons. Maybe it's about getting people to actually purchase DS which in the end will bring them some $$. JMO

Where exactly did you see that Cricut Design Studio would no longer be offered as a trial? The Cricut website shows no such thing that I could find. Does *YOUR* installation of the trial software EXPIRE in December? Many software companies offer a trial with an expiration date - that's normal, smart business procedure. What EXACTLY did you see? What is the web address?
