can someone tell me a good setting for dashed score lines?

Post by angel »

trying to mess with the scoreline setting, what is a good number for the dash gap so that your not overwhelmed with the dashes but are there to show you where to fold. the pre-settings on there are just way to many.

thanks

Angel, your answer depends on several things:

What cutter you are using as "pressure" counts

What computer system are you using and..

What software are you using SCAL1, SCAL3. eCa; (it would save you time if you would add these answers to your signature page...then you wouldn't have to answer them again.

I"m sure as soon as you answer these questions someone who has a like system will come along and give you the best answer.

I agree that there are too many. I don't know about the pressure setting or blade depth for your cutter, but I think the gap could be as wide as 32 just from looking at the virtual mat....I have not tried it on my machine. I usually just raise the blade and lighten the pressure. I thought that was one great thing about the new cutters was the ability to do nifty score lines...I just don't know about it, though.

I use ECAL and I don't used dashed lines for my score line. I always replace the dashed score lines with straight lines, and then just tell the program to score the line. It makes for a much smoother, cleaner fold. I think when they originally made dashed score lines it was because the cutter could not score, but only cut, the line. Hence, it could fold easily through the scores. But, with ECAL, it has the scoring option, so you might like to try the straight score lines. IMO, it looks more professional.

I score the same as mitsim. it is a great feature on the eclipss and there is no need to caahnge blade settings, just make sure under your prefernces you have the scoring pressure set high enough. I usually leave mine about 5

Thanks everyone, im not concerned with the pressure, just the fact of making the spaces wider in between the dashes, and making the dashes a hair bigger, I have the eclips, but my cameo doesnt do solid lines so this is why im asking, I have never had to mess with the line setting before. So again pressure and blade depth I have no issue with with.
