Hello all! It's been awhile. I thought I would let everybody know that I bought a Cameo. It came on Wednesday and all I have done so far is open the box. I still have my original Expression and I have to tell you that it still works and it has been very busy. I am still cutting vinyl and I am proud to say that some of my cuts are now in 5 other states besides Michigan. I have a new friend who has kept me very very busy not only with Vinyl, but also magnets. I have made about 400 3 colors cuts and 220 magnets for her so far. I order the Magnet sheets from Signwarehouse in packs of 25. They cut really well with the Cricut and I decorate them with Vinyl. I am really looking forward to the more detailed cuts that I will be able to do with my new machine. Also, being able to cut vinyl without a mat and up to 10 feet at a time is going to be great when it's time to do my cuts for my Little League teams this Summer.
Does anybody have any helpful hints for when I install SCAL to run my new toy?

Well holy moley!!! Welcome back Todd. I thought I was looking at a very old thread at first.
Anyway, I love my silhouette and it cuts vinyl beautifully. I don't know about magnet sheets. It's definitely not a "muscle" machine. All you have to do is upgrade to SCAL3 and you'll be on your way. I have the Silhouette Design Studio, but hardly every use it. My heart belongs to SCAL and Inkscape. Old habits die hard.
Congrats on your expanding business!!!

I would think if the cricut can cut it the cameo will. it will just be a case of finding the right blade depth & pressure. sometimes it's better to use a lower pressure and cut twice, it depends on the media.

One thing I learned from the Cameo is that the blade depth is sometimes tricky. Use the Silhouette Studio, the free one that you can download from silhouetteamerica.com, learn via you tube on how to manuever around the software to get to the printing page. There you have the ability to select predefined settings (which SCAL3 has similar) which show the blade setting also. Remember you don't have to buy SCAL3, just upgrade your SCAL2 and yes you can run both on the same PC.

This post is a sight for sore eyes...you have been so missed here!!!!! Hope you will beable to continue to visit, and that you got your machine going! Congrats and hope you are having fun! I hope everyone gets on well with their new machines and all the questions get answered. It is just a bit more confusing now that there are so many different cutters and now also different scal programs. Good luck to all!talanhart wrote:Hello all! It's been awhile.
