the hinge method is easy once you have done it a time or two.

basically you tape a sheet of paper to your mat along one end.
send the file to cut
DO NOT REMOVE MAT OR SHEET
remove the cut bits but leave the "sheet" where it is - making a template.
slide your printed image under the sheet and align it up to the cuts.
press image to mat to make sure it sticks
fold back the template sheet along the tape (the hinge)
send the file to cut again - if you lined it all up OK this should cut out your printed image

remember you need to print at 100% size or the cuts will not match

Your explanation of the hinge method really makes sense. I'm going to have to play with what happens with the eCraft, which doesn't use a mat.

Thanks for the clear explanation and the tip about 100%!

make a mat using a large sheet of card and tape the "template sheet" or what will become that to the large sheet.

pretty sure there was a video on the tube of U that showed this on an ecraft.

I could never get my horrid Ecraft to cut in the same place twice, tried the hinge method but it was never accurate enough on my machine as it never seems to cut the same start position and used to take SO long and so many miss-cuts and wasted paper. I bought a Eclips because it can print and cut and I love it! I can't even e-bay the ecraft as I do not want to pass on such a cr*ppy machine to an unsuspecting person. so £250 down the drain :-(

Good luck to the OP, i hope you can get yours to work correctly. There is an Ecraft group on yahoo.
