SCAL2 Won't open SVG files

I am having trouble opening SVG files. SCAL2 says "failed to open the SVG file"
Some of these files have been saved in Adobe illustrator and some in inkscape for Mac. When I upgraded my Mac a year ago I had to get illustrator as Inkscape will not work on it until they upgrade the programme .
SCAL2 will open some SVG files, there seems to be reason why some and not others.

Hi, I am surprised that you are having problems with Inkscape on your Mac. I've used Inkscape for years on my Mac. I'm running Snow Leopard.

Are you sure that you have x11 up and running?

You must have this application in order for Mac to use Inkscape. I think if you download and install it you will not have the svg problems. I don't use Illustrator so I can't comment on why its svg files don't work but maybe someone else will come by and help.

thanks Heather, tried those. Interesting that they have some that will be read and some that won't too
