Baby Bottle
Baby Bottle
I saw this on the "Crafts U Print" website (http://www.craftsuprint.com/cutting-files/) made by Tina Fitch, who does beautiful work by the way, and I was wondering how you would go about cutting something like this. Would you just have to cut like 12 pieces and glue them in the middle. Also check out her cards that she makes with a scalloped font. They are very pretty.

That is cool...no clue on how to make it...but I can't find the scalloped font you mentioned.
She has it wrong about updating scal at the bottom, also.

Re: Baby Bottle
You could make it by cutting the full bottle profile 12 times from paper/ thin card, fold each in half and then glue them together one on top of the other while still folded of course..
You could then glue that stack into the middle of a card and have a 3d popup bottle in the card fold.

Re: Baby Bottle
If you cut two of the full bottle shape, one with a slit from the top center down to the middle, and one with a slit from the bottom center up to the middle, you could slide the slits together and have an x-shaped bottle. So I'm thinking you could cut half a dozen with the top slit and half a dozen with the bottom slit and slide them all together ... ? It might take a little manipulation, but without testing it, it seems like it would work.
Since I'm in 'baby shower mode' right now, I might try to make one. Will post if I do.
Thanks for the post-- that's really cute.

An xform would not work with more than two full bottles, they would not be able to open past each other, hard to describe but think about the end which does not have a slot and how two would sit next to each other.ptpulley wrote:If you cut two of the full bottle shape, one with a slit from the top center down to the middle, and one with a slit from the bottom center up to the middle, you could slide the slits together and have an x-shaped bottle. Re: Baby Bottle
Yeah, you're right. It only works if you bend all the pieces at the slit. I made a rough mockup from printer paper, and put a couple of pieces in at a time. With cardstock and enough pieces (and maybe a little glue in the center to stabilize) it might work.
OP, that website is fantastic! I need to make a birthday card for a friend this week, and I got a wonderful idea there. Lots of inspiration on that site-- thanks for posting it.

If you are bending them the slit becomes obsolete really.ptpulley wrote:Yeah, you're right. It only works if you bend all the pieces at the slit. It is hard to be sure from the photo but it does not really look like they are folded, I am struggling to think of another way though.

Re: Baby Bottle
Maybe, one full card bottle(regular cardstock) and several half bottles(more like paper) with a gluing tab, somehow all glued at center, on both sides of full card...just a thought.

Re: Baby Bottle
Great ideas everyone. I may just have to try this.
