Firmware upgrades for original Cricut

Post by wannabe rebel »

I have an original cricut that has version 1.1 on it and I still have the original download of the SCAL software 1.016

I use a mac with Lion.

I have been having a few issues recently, blade drag, loss of sharpness to the edges of my designs - the corners are always rounded, lines not meeting up on shapes and now it is only cutting two or three letters at a time before it booms out or freezes.

I was wondering if I need to update anything and if so what and from where

Can anyone help

Thanks

You probably should have upgraded to SCAL2 quite awhile ago and also updated your Cricut firmware. SCAL2 is no longer available for purchase. In fact, there is no longer any newer software that will work with the Cricut because of their manufacturer's actions to stop sale of the software. Many on the forum that still own SCAL2 are continuing to use it, but many are upgraded to newer machines that do not require the cartridges and allow the use of SCAL3 or eCAL software. There are many free images on many blogs and other files to purchase for a minimal fee. Maybe you want to consider this option before investing too much time and money into your current set up.
