To see the mat while it's cutting!

Post by tiamariad »

I know this probably something most people wouldn't really care about, but I would like to be able to see what I'm cutting on the screen as It's being cut, as the minute it starts cutting you can't see whats on the mat until it's already been cut!

There is an option in Edit, I think Properties (I'm away from the software now), to keep the mat visible when cutting. It doesn't show you exactly where the blade is on the design as it cuts however. But you can at least see the image and you can kind of see where the blade is by looking at the machine.

Just to clarify, it's in Edit -> Preferences, and is the the checkbox for "Keep mat visible when cutting". (I'm at my computer now).

It would be a load on the PC, but it would be cool if you could watch it trace the nodes that were cutting and change colors to show what was cut and what was remaining.

That would be nice, but you're right, it would really slow everything down, and I think it would be really hard to do because SCAL is not a true vector graphic drawing program (like Inkscape). Maybe instead an reasonably accurate progress bar would be useful and easier to do.
