I recently upgraded to SCAL3 and a new cutter.
I am trying to cut a project I made with a couple different quotes on it. When I hit "preview" most of the letters are red (indicating they will cut) but there are a couple random letters that are still in blue (indicating it won't cut).
Other times, everything will show up as red, but nothing will cut. Sometimes everything will cut.
Still other times, only an SVG I have on the page will cut, but none of the words.
How do I get my program to consistently cut everything on the page at one time? If this has already been discussed, can anyone point me in the direction of that topic?
Thanks in advance for any help! I just found this forum today and I look forward to getting to know everyone and sharing pictures, tips, and ideas!

Re: Only some of my letters are cutting..
I am sorry I don't know the answer but btt for help, please...
It might also help to have the file for the helper...the picture is good too...thanks.
Tell your cutting machine type and your computer OS and software...I think you said that.
The more info for the helpers the better and quicker you get an answer.
If they can not help then there is support that you can contact on CE homepage.

Yes if you post the file here and what cutter you are using with SCAL3 someone, and maybe more than one will jump in

Re: Only some of my letters are cutting..
H'm, have used SCAL 3 alot, and have never run into this particular problem. Did you type the whole thing in SCAL or import as an .svg? This might just be a question for CraftEdge. If you can attach the file, I will take a look at it. I'll go mess around and see if I can duplicated the problem. I have never tried to cut that much text...
Re: Only some of my letters are cutting..
I had that problem and it was a software issue. There is probably a newer version available than the one you are using. Check the home page and see what is there for download and compare it to the one you are using. It took me several "fixes" for them to get it right but it is fine now.
P.S. It was doing that with all shapes, not just fonts.

Re: Only some of my letters are cutting..
Thanks so much for your willingness to jump in! I am currently writing back and forth with Craft Edge, but I know they are busy and I have a bunch of orders I am working on!
I always cut large amounts of text so I can just walk away and work on something else and never had this problem. I just upgraded to SCAL3 last month...
Here is a file example for anyone wanted to play around with it
On the left I did not alterations to it and the preview says everything will cut. On the right side, I have copied and pasted, ungrouped and grouped, and welded my letters. All something I do to my files to get them designed how I want. You can see, the preview only says random things will cut!
lol am I going crazy?
Thanks again!

Re: Only some of my letters are cutting..
I worked with it some and can't quite figure out your example. I am assuming this is a different file than the one you first posted. Anyway, when I open eCal, I ungrouped your text and when turning on the nodes, some of the letters have nodes and some just have a bounding box around them. Don't know why.
What I eventually did was File - export (as an svg). Then I brought back into eCal as an svg, ungrouped again and the nodes are there. What was left to work with was the letters like a or g where they are filled in and had to zoom in to choose the inside of the letter, hold down the shift key and choose the outside of the letter. Then go to path - exclude to get rid of the center.
Maybe you want to give that a try and see if it works for you.

Re: Only some of my letters are cutting..
Your lines "Then only some of my letters will preview..." are missing pieces because you used Break Apart and then welded the pieces. If you use Break Apart, you will want to select the pieces and use Object/Merge or Object/Group to keep them together. If you want to use Weld, then you will need to use Merge since any lines contained within another shape will not cut when welded. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the first line of text, but I used Object/Break Apart followed by Object/Merge and it previewed as cutting. HTH

Re: Only some of my letters are cutting..
Thanks Heather. I didn't think of that and just opened it again in eCal. Break apart and then merge worked like a charm. Much easier than my solution.

Re: Only some of my letters are cutting..
Ok I will try to do the merging thing you guys suggested.
Instead of breaking apart an object in the first place, is there a better route to take? Like if I type the word "Hello" and wanted to change the "H" to a different size, I would usually just "break apart" fix the h, then group it back together.
Thank you guys so much for your help! I thought I could switch over to the new version without any help, but I am so glad you guys are willing to help!
